#vehiclemeetings

Workshop Program│Nov. 28, 2018 OGR │Officine Grandi Riparazioni, Torino

Preliminary Program

09:15 am - 09:55 am The International Network of Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center - Israel & China Overviews: From Suppliers of Mechanical Components to Leaders in Disruptive Technologies

Vincenzo ANTONETTI - INTESA SANPAOLO INNOVATION CENTER
Head of Promotion and Development of Innovation - International Network

Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center has a strong international network. Thanks to our global partnerships and our antennas located in the most innovative environments in the world, we can cover all the industrial and corporate expectations supporting their investments on innovation. China and Israel are the perfect technology providers for our Italian manufacturing ecosystem.

10:00 am -10:20 am The Next Chapter in Protecting Connected Transportation from Cyberthreats

Danny LOEB - SAFERIDE
Head of Strategic Alliances and Partners

Cyber threats are increasing rapidly as the number of connected vehicles grows. Conventional security measures cannot advance and deploy quickly enough to handle the growing number of threats. Most vulnerabilities in vehicles today are unknown until an attack happens. Cybersecurity measures, using rules, logic and signatures are required but cannot detect unknown threats, leaving OEMs, Fleets and customers vulnerable to zero-day attacks and causing financial and safety risks. The need to protect against unknown threats opens a new chapter in cybersecurity and anomaly detection - solutions that combine deterministic security measures to protect against know threats with zero false-positive performance with an Artificial Intelligence (AI) profiling and anomaly detection technology to provide future proof security against unknown threats. The AI anomaly detection engine establishes a baseline of the vehicle’s normal behavior and identify anomalies to uncover unknown vulnerabilities and malfunctions. In this session we will also show examples of cyberattacks detection using AI technology that cannot be detected using conventional security measures. We will also show how enabling economic big data analysis for anomaly detection in the cloud, requires an advanced data optimization and compression software that can be implemented using Machine Learning technology.

10:25 am - 10:45 am Ushering in the Era of the Self-Healing Car

Roger ORDMAN - AURORA LABS
EVP Marketing

The era of software driven cars is upon us. Agile, user-centric software development processes create a plethora of continuous opportunities and risks for the OEMs, even after the car has left the production line. Aurora Labs’ Self-Healing Software™ for connected cars uniquely address all three stages of a software health solution, future proofing the next generation of software driven automotive features. Using machine learning algorithms, Aurora Labs detects line-of-code faults and predicts downtime events, fixes errors on-the-go and enables reliable and cost-effective rollouts of new automotive features to all ECUs in the vehicle without any downtime for the user. Aurora Labs is paving the way for the age of the self-healing car.

10:50 am -11:10 am L2*: ADAS Software Framework for the Journey From L2 to L4

Can KURTULUS - EATRON
Director Technology and Innovation

There are popular L1 features on the market today like ACC, and LKA, which adjusts vehicle speed according to traffic on the road, and which help drivers stay within their lanes. Current implementations are getting increasingly sophisticated; however, they continue to experience issues like handling sharp curves (e.g. staying within the lane), mixing up lead cars to follow etc. Part of the limitations of the current features stem from the fact that they are developed as independent features that work separately, although they can be turned on to work at the same time. Eatron has taken a different approach to develop a SW framework to support multiple ADAS features and to serve as a baseline for L2+ ADAS functionality called L2 star. L2 Star utilizes all the available sensors and builds a model of the surroundings of the vehicle (other vehicles, lanes etc.). For all features, the baseline is this environment model. The control functionality is also shared, and the framework utilizes a MIMO control framework where both lateral and longitudinal control signals are calculated taking into account respective constraints. Individual features can still be turned off, but the core control framework will continue to run and still take into account all constraints to offer an enhanced driver experience. We will present the main framework and our motivations when developing this framework, as well as our simulation-based approach to developing and validating this SW architecture.

11:15 am -11:35 am Vacuum Casting Technology for Electric Motors

Massimiliano BALBONI - DEMAK GROUP
Technical Sales Manager

According to the main topics of VTM Meetings, Demak will focus its contribution on the resin encapsulation of electrical motors and, above all, E Drive motors. Thanks to the experience gained during these last years, Demak will present the many advantages of a full encapsulation compared to other insulation methods such as impregnation and trickling technologies. The resin it’s a perfect electrical insulator and it gives properties absolutely incomparable with other insulating methods: enhanced water and dust resistance, chemical resistance, less vibrations, less noise but most of all a perfect heat dissipation. Demak, having supplied full automatic lines to OEM and Tier1 suppliers, will discuss the encapsulating process through the analysis of an automatic line and with the use of a specific resin system specially developed for electrical traction motors. The use of Continuous Vacuum Technology is crucial in Demak equipment and processes, in order to guarantee the best impregnation without any bubble or voids into the final product. The Demak Full Automatic Line it’s not only made for huge production numbers but for precision and improved casting processes too. Demak Group has two hearts: mechanical and chemical, in this way we provide 360° support and complete custom processes.

11:40 am -12:00 pm Arrivo – The More Efficient EV of the Future

Knut SAUER - ARRIVO
Co-Founder

Arrivo – the backbone of future city transportation. Congestion plus autonomous cars equal autonomous congestion! Transportation demand has doubled over the last three decades. There is no indication that this trend will stop, quite the opposite; ride haling services in many North American cities have increased vehicle miles dramatically. Autonomous cars in the future will undoubtedly make traffic safer. But in a future of ever-growing demand for mobility in the urban environment, how will cities provide their citizens with the necessary capacity ? Arrivo is the autonomous transportation system of the future that will be able to provide ten times more capacity.

12:05 pm - 12:50 pm Italdesign PopUp Next Modular and Multimodal Urban Mobility System

A representative - ITALDESIGN

Augmented Reality Experience with Microsoft Hololens Headsets.
