Head of New e-Mobility Division - Toyota Tsusho Europe

Nicola leads TTNI-E (part of the Toyota Enterprise), New E-Mobility Division whose mission is to accelerate the adoption of EVs in the EMEA region. His team offers strategic advising to different companies of the Toyota Group, active in multiple sectors (automotive, medical devices, robotics) on regulatory and distribution matters.

Light electric vehicles and disruptive personal mobility devices in particular have been the focus of his career. Before joining Toyota, Nicola worked for Estrima.com, Italian manufacturer of the electric Birò and for very advanced power wheelchairs manufacturers: Whill.jp (Japan) and Gennymobility.com (Switzerland) and Segway/Ninebot (USA/China). Nicola joined Segway Inc., the USA manufacturer of the famous self-balancing device, prior to its launch in August 2001.

For Segway he managed the EMEA region, the most important region globally and led global regulatory efforts until 2014. Prior to this Nico has worked in Brussels for a global public affairs consultancy firm, the Regional Delegation of Piedmont to the EU and, as an intern , the European Commission. Educated as international political scientist, he studied in Italy, Belgium, Singapore and Thailand. Nico is fluent in various European languages ​​and lectured Marketing of Innovation and European Union lobbying at MBA courses in various European Universities. He also served as CEN national expert in regulatory standards for LEVs.

Nico currently lives in Belgium with his wife and three children.
