Reinhard Mortel

Senior Scientist & Senior Project Manager - Fraunhofer ISIT

After completing his doctorate in electrochemistry (2002), Reinhard moved to industry, where he was involved in various development projects for fuel cells, supercaps and Li-ion batteries, mostly for automotive applications.
Since 2009, he has been involved in application-oriented research on Li-ion cells at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology (ISIT) in Itzehoe. Here he was responsible for various projects on both the introduction of new materials in cells and the development of improved cell designs for automotive and other applications. Since 2022, he has been the technical and scientific senior manager of the newly formed Fab-SH business unit at ISIT.
