Born in Savona 56 years ago, a graduate of mechanical engineering at Genova University and a MBA at Milano Polytechnic, Marco Barale has had a career of 30 years in multinational companies.

Sales & Business Development Director of Alstom Italy & Switzerland since 2014, with a turnover of about 1 B€ in all the railway technologies product lines (rolling stock, signaling, service and infrastructure), Marco Barale is also a member of the board of Anie/Assifer, the Italian railway industry association, part of Confindustria, where served as head of rolling stock sector.

In Alstom since 1998, he held various management positions in the sales and project management areas both in the rolling stock and signaling and service businesses, managing all the main Italian and Swiss customers. A former member of the board of Metro 5 SpA, the concessionaire in charge of the construction, operation and maintenance of Milano Metro line 5 from 2013 to the end of 2015, when the full line was commissioned.

Marco Barale started his career in 1989 as system engineer in IBM and later on in 1995 as railway strategy manager in the corporate strategy departement of Sasib Group.
